The tower
Can you climb the Chinese Tower?
No. The tower is not open to the public; the first floor is reserved for the brass bands.
How tall is it?
25 metres, five storeys, built entirely of wood. Erected 1789/90, faithfully rebuilt in 1952. Full story on the history page.
Why "Chinese" Tower?
Chinoiserie: the pagoda copies the Great Pagoda at Kew in London, which itself imitated Chinese towers.
Is there an entrance fee?
No. Park and square are free and open all year.
Beer garden
Who runs it?
The Haberl family (chinaturm.de). Our association cares for the traditions, not the gastronomy.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes, expressly; drinks come from the taps. Background on the beer garden page.
How many seats?
About 7,000, Munich's second-largest beer garden.
Kocherlball
When is the next Kocherlball?
Sunday, 18 July 2027, 6 to 10 am. Free admission, traditional dress welcome. Everything on the Kocherlball page.
Do I need tickets?
No tickets, no registration. Come early if you want a table.

What is the address?
