Munich Christmas Markets 2026

Munich has close to 30 Christmas markets, and the first ones open as early as 7 November. For 18 of them the 2026 dates are fixed. Here they are, sorted by opening day.

Which market for which evening?

Old town on foot

Marienplatz, the Kaiserhof of the Residenz, Wittelsbacherplatz, Viktualienmarkt, Sendlinger Tor and Stephansplatz are close enough to combine in one evening on foot.

In a park, not a square

The Christmas market at the Chinese Tower is the only market in this overview set in the middle of the English Garden, around the wooden pagoda. You reach it along park paths rather than a shopping street.

That depends on what you are looking for. For the historic setting, go to Marienplatz in front of the town hall. For quiet, trees and lantern light, come to the English Garden. As the association of the Chinese Tower we are not neutral, so only this: it is the only market in this overview inside the English Garden.
